Some time ago, this was in fashion
I promised you guys in yesterday’s post, that I will bring you a whole post dedicated to the apartment that we are curently staying in.
I am sure that this decor was once in fashion. About 30 years ago.
When you come through the door, you have the kitchen on your left.
It has an oven that I am too scared to use. The kictchen cupboards are made from tin!!! Yes, you heard me right, TIN!!
Then there’s a little dining room table. Can you see that power cable running across the floor? You have to plug in the microwave there. No security hazard at all!
I had to bring 1 photo of the 2 of us along- just to make this place a ‘lill bit more personal. My orchards came along too.
Behind the dining room is the tv room/ bedroom. With olive green curtains. Yes, I haven’t packed out my suitcase yet, not because I am lazy, but because I gave the limited cupboard space to Viv. I am such a nice wife! The only thing I like, is that wingback chair.
This fabric is everywhere; the table cloths and even the bedding. Not quite my taste.
There is only 2 single beds, so we pulled them together, moving the headboard/ dressing table to the side.
Next to the beds are the cupboards and the green bathroom. It even has a roomdivider (on your left). The last time I saw one similar to this, was at our church when we lived in Durban about 10 years ago.
No matter how old and mismatched this apartment is, we love staying here. Just because of this:
It also feels like we are on holiday for some strange reason.

Well, you make the best of it, enjoy the view and just imagine how you will appreciate Raybelle!
I totally know where this is! I looked at an apartment here with my parents back when I was a student… seems not much has changed! You would think with the convenience of the location and that spectacular view someone would buy them up and give them a makeover!
Wishing you all the best during this transitional period… I myself might finally have a kitchen this weekend – couldn’t bare to keep my similarly dated and dirty kitchen so have had to wait patiently for pre-made cabinets. So over washing dishes in the bath. It’s amazing how humbling a move can be, makes you really appreciate the small things like doing your laundry in the comfort of your own home
I just love Viv’s new hairstyle!!!
You’re definitely going to remember this entire journey from the floral print to the tin cupboards … and it will certainly make you appreciate your gorgeous home you’re building/preparing!
Much love, Bailey from Vanilla Blonde
Wel dis nou ‘n lekker kampery met “room with a view”!
