Framing some trinkets

Posted on January 25, 2012

My mother-in-law and I found this ugly duckling in an antique shop while we were on one of our treasure hunting missions.

But look past the ugly painting of the poor soul who probably took hours to paint it and maybe just maybe he had quite some dreams for this piece. But don’t worry Mr. I can’t make out your hand writing, the actual painting does have a function in our house now, we mix paint on it. Now that’s still great! In this house we mix paint a lot…

The frame is gorgeous. It has a couple of goodies missing in the corners, but I knew we could turn her into a gorgeous swan frame.

First I removed the painting, sorry Mr. I can’t make out your hand writing.

Then I dusted off the corners with our mushroom cleaner.

Sorry Viv :) I washed it afterwards, promise :)

I sanded off some of the edges with very fine sandpaper.

I chose a powdery blue spraypaint.

It took about 3 layers of paint.

I wanted to put pics of our favourite things from our wedding in the frame as well as other trinkets that means a lot to us.

First I arranged them on the floor.

And voila…

The entrance is one of those, work in progress, projects.  There are so much that still needs to be done in there. But I love walking into the house and seeing our wedding invite, our wedding cake and our first apartment’s key. (Cheesy? By now, you should know that it is my second name)

Awsome to use old frames like that – very creative Ido, it is wonderful to treasure beautiful memories in such a different way.

  2. WOW!! I love different that is with the pics being placed in and out of the frame! Gorgeous colour too!
