Well, this might not be as exciting for you guys as it is for us. But we have been waiting for this day, which seems like forever!!!
We have started painting and updating the exterior of Raybelle!
We had to save up some moolah before we could start updating the exterior. It took so long even our neighbours started asking when are we starting to paint the house. Guess our Raybelle was the ugly duckling in the street. But not for very long, I hope.
Because the house is so darn old, it needs A LOT of work. Not just a new coat of paint, but each and every crack needs to be drilled out and filled, the old paint needs to be removed by a pressure spray and the windows needs to be sanded off.
But, we have started and that makes me all warm inside. It still looks like a train wreck, but man it is one beautiful train wreck.
Just remember the house looked like this just a week ago. We are making progress.
Now it looks like this:
Now here is the best part of this whole project, choosing the colour. We chose grey and white; keeping the plaster band around the windows white as well as the white stripe that runs along the side of the house (you can see it clearly in picture 2) and the rest of the house grey.
Choosing a grey that we both liked was hard. Especially choosing it of paint chips. After looking at chips for a while, all the colours looked the same.
But we nailed it down to this chip:
It was between Midas Lighthouse, or Midas Goddess.
We took a sample home and found the winner: Lighthouse
Have a great week.
